Specimen of a catalogue of Lycænidæ in the British Museum (London : Printed by order of the Trustees, 1862) has separate t.p. and paging, and was apparently issued in a larger paper size than the rest of the publication, although typically trimmed to 28 cm. when bound together with the other parts of the text volume
"The Trustees of the British Museum having declined to proceed with my Catalogue of the Lycænidæ, I [i.e. Hewitson] have thought it best to continue these illustrations as a separate work .... To make this new work as complete as it is now in my power to do, I have incorporated all the species of Lycænidæ mentioned in the British Museum catalogue, making a few corrections, and introducing the new species of Amblypodia in their proper places." --Preface, p. [iii] of v. 1
Hewitson died during publication. H.G. Smith finished seeing the work through the press, assisted by W.F. Kirby (who prepared the index to the whole work) and Rippon (serving as lithographer for illustrations drawn by Hewitson). See "Postscript" of v. 1
"Printed by Taylor and Francis" --Verso of t.p
Some of the text leaves and plates have individual dates of publication
"This work may be bound either in one or two volumes. A separate titlepage is given for the plates" --Instructions for the binder, v. 1
Cancels were issued for p. 37, 151, 185, and 209, as well as for the t.p. for the volume of plates (dated 1863). The Cullman Library copy has the cancelled pages bound in together with their replacment pages
